Polar Bear Swims 2008 - Hansen Dam & Cabrillo Beach
This year was especially fantastic because my mom made my Grandma's old recipe for black-eyed peas and corn bread. Oh my GAWD was that good.
Here are some more photos:

PS. A BIG! thank you to Green Foods. I have been using Green Magma everyday before lunch for the past 3 months. Doing that along with drastically cutting animal products has brought me down to a much lighter 160lbs. from a previous constant of 175lbs. Happy.

What are the two necklacs you are wearing. I am picking up some Green Magna this weekend. Thanks for the inspiration. Todd

The necklaces:
The silver monkey, a gift from Lisa, is a Tibetan Hill Tribe made Silver Monkey of the Hindu monkey god Hanuman. My spirit animal happens to be a monkey, i.e., El Mono down in Raramuri-land (Tarahumara Indians of Mexico).
The other necklace is a string of 54 prayer beads. I picked them up during a yoga retreat at the Remo Drum Factory in North Hollywood where I often attend AWESOME drum circles.
The beads are used to chant mantras (you go twice through the beads to make 108), but I especially like the jingling sound they make will running with the silver monkey bouncing up-and-down.
The Green Magma is AWESOME stuff. It has changed my life big time. I HIGHLY recommend it. Tell'em BFT sent ya.

I recognized the beads. THe silver charm is cool. I ordered a few Tarahumara books from the Library I work at. I am hoping the Green Magna will help with weight loss like it did for you. Thanks for the info. I have been a fan for years. Like all the posts. Especially with the bug and the dogs pictures. Have a great weekend. Todd

Great pics and post! I, too, take Green Magma daily--I just started, in fact. Earlier today my family and I were at our local Trader Joe's and I looked at what seems to be a similar product, a supplement called Very Green (I think that's the exact name). I scanned the ingredients very quickly and it looks like it's basically a barley grass juice supplement; I simply didn't have time to look at the nutrition facts and mentally take notes, compare, etc.
What's your thought on TJ's Very Green? Is it close to Green Magma? Better? Worse? Thanks!
Happy running,

No, I am not familiar with it.
I have read up a lot on Green Foods. I like their deep commitment to quality in both ingredients and production. I also know that one of my running heroes Scott Jurek uses it everyday and his accomplishments are awe inspiring.
In the end, eating well and excercising thoughtfully will bring anyone into a better place than not doing so.
So, go for it and feel the benefits in a stronger body and mind.

Hey BFT,
Don't get weirded out by this, but your mum looks like she's in pretty awesome shape... what sort of exercise does she do?

Yeah, I know.
Everyone thinks that she is my sister!
She walks/runs 4 miles nearly everyday. She is 65 and going strong.
You should see some of her friends in their 70's. It blows one's mind.
