Running Greece - 2007 Spartathlon - Crewing for Scott Jurek
Scott and Leah spent over a week out near Pylos in a town called Gialova. I joined them on the 23rd for sevaral days of relaxing and swimming before the race. Best time ever.
Scott and Leah fed me very well during my stay. It would be easy to be a vegan if it meant eating like they do everyday. Well, Leah and I did eat the yogurt, too. Greek yogurt is good stuff.
Very cool map of the area click here.

Dear Ted,
Hope you have a great time and enjoy the hospitality of the Greek people! They are a curious mix of "East and West" that can take some getting your head around - many folks I went with to a conference last year, in Athens (At the Magharon) complained a little at the organisation, but I think they were just a little confused at the "Greek" way of organising things! One day, I hope to run the "Athens" marathon - That does sound fun to me!
Best,
Yanni.

Hi Ted! Funny to see that the Greek landscape is so much like your home landscape - or is it?

Hi Ted,
Greetings from Finland. We met in Athens couple of days ago and we had an interesting discussion about barefoot running during late hours of monday evening (or was is tuesday morning...). Funny that I didn't realised right away with whom we were talking. It was a pleasure to meet both you and Scott. Hope to see you barefootin' from Athens to Sparta some year :)
Best regards,
Jari

Yeah, I know, but it WAS beautiful and delicious, and slow enough to be considered slow.
