Huarache Experiment Continues - 20+ miles in the Verdugos
20+ miles in the Verdugos without problems with my huaraches. I am training for the upcoming Copper Canyon Ultra Marathon on March 4th in Mexico. This year I plan on wearing the same footwear that the local runners will be wearing. I made my decision about a month ago, but as of today, I am totally confident that I will be able to cover the entire 47+ mile race course wearing only huaraches.

I read your weblog with great pleasure. Your findings regarding minimal shoewear are interesting. And the pictures are beautiful!
Sometimes I envy you, because you live in such a wonderful landscape. The mountains, the sea, the trees, nice weather! Wow! I remember it was in the LA-region, right? Is it a big natural park ?

I live IN the city of Los Angeles. Those photos are taken within the city limits.
Most people have no idea how much nature exists right at their doorstep.

Wow, that's amazing! I've always wanted a shoe that was basically a thin layer of foot protection and traction, that would conform to my foot shape well. I'll be over for Western States this year - any chance I can get fitted for a pair?

Good possibility.
I didn't get into WS this year; however, I may be doing some crewing.
Because of so much interest, I did start selling these sandals. I will add more info to www.BarefootTed.com as soon as I am ready.
Basically, each sandal must be custom made for each foot. At this time, folks in the US are sending me outline sketches of their feet along with marks for toe hole and center of ankle.
Hope to see you at the WS 100.

Hi Ted
I like your style!! Your homemade huaraches. You've given me some footwear ideas. I'm not a runner, only a barefoot walker. I respect all you tuff guy barefoot runners. Tuff, tuff, tuff keep up the good work
Best of luck and health,
